Community -top-
Davis Senior High School is located in a university town about 14 miles west of Sacramento, the state capital. It is primarily a middle to upper-middle income community placing a high value on education. The population is approximately 65,000.
School -top-
The high school is a 3-year, public, comprehensive high school with a reputation for academic excellence and an emphasis on preparation for college. It is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Our students come from more than sixty countries and speak over twenty-five native languages.

Made up of approximately 111 certificated staff members (full and part-time), including 4 administrators, 5.6 counselors, 1 librarian, 1 psychologist, 1 part-time nurse and 97 instructors. Degrees include 42 with BA plus 30 semester credits, 48 with M.A. or M.S., and 2 with Ph.D.
Academic Information -top-
Grades: Letter grades of A, B, C, D, F are given, with D the lowest passing grade; “Pass” grades are given in some P.E. or Teachers’ Assistant classes. College preparatory courses show a “P” on the transcript. AP and Honors courses (except English 10 Honors) are given one extra point in calculating some GPAs.
Grade Point Averages: State GPA is unweighted and based on courses from grade 10 on excluding P.E. Total GPA is based on all subjects taken in grades 9 – 12 and is weighted. College GPA is calculated on college preparatory courses in grades 10 – 12 and is weighted. Decile rank is calculated on college preparatory courses in grades 10 and 11. No individual class rank is calculated.
• The academic year is made up of two 18-week semesters. Students may take up to seven courses each semester. A limited summer school is available.
• Transcripts and Graduation Requirements include courses taken in grade 9 at the local junior high schools.
Curriculum Information -top-
Advanced Placement Courses: Offered in Studio Art; Art History; English Literature & Composition; Music Theory; U.S. History; U.S. Government; Human Geography; French Language; German Language and Literature; Japanese Language and Culture; Spanish Language and Literature; Microeconomics, Macroeconomics; Calculus AB; Calculus BC; Statistics; Chemistry; Physics; and Biology. Honors courses include Physics, Essentials of Music, American Literature, English 10 and French 4, German 4, Spanish 4, Chinese 4 and Japanese 4
Accelerated Courses: Students may take high school level mathematics and foreign language courses prior to grade 9. Many students, while still in high school, enroll in college-level courses at the Davis campus of the University of California, Sacramento City College and Woodland Community college.
CAHSEE Preparation classes are provided, including reading, writing, and mathematics. 93% of sophomores passed the CAHSEE.
Regional Occupation Courses (ROP): Offered in Networking; Biotechnology; Environmental Science; Desktop Publishing & Production, Stagecraft Production, Ornamental Horticulture, Automotive Technology.
English as a Second Language and Sheltered Courses: English, Social Sciences and Life Science are offered to students with limited English proficiency.
Special Education Courses: Students with special learning needs are provided with academic support through Learning Center and full inclusion programs.
